Cardiff Half Marathon 2015

I did it! Some how I managed to run 13.11 miles at the Cardiff half Marathon yesterday, and it was so much harder than I ever anticipated but I am so glad I did it.

I remember back in January signing up to do it, one of those new years resolutions that you soon forget about.  Well, this one I couldn't forget about as I was constantly thinking about how I was going survive all those miles.

Before I knew it, it was half marathon day and I was super scared and nervous come the starting line.
As soon as I started to run, the nerves drifted away and I got into the rhythm of the jog.

22,000 people took part in this years race which provided such a great atmosphere, Cardiff was heaving and there was so much support for all the runners.

I found myself enjoying some miles whilst others I found excruciatingly hard! For example, why I didn't I prepare myself for hills?!? My god the hills killed me and definitely brought down my time.
I hit a mental and physical block around mile 10 and had to really resist the urge to walk. This was the hardest part for me, but I had to keep telling myself  'it will soon be over'.

Thankfully , I crossed the finish line with a time of 2 hours 29 mins which is a little longer than I would've hoped but those last 3 miles really tested me ! As I passed the finish I was given a medal, a  t shirt, a banana, a refreshing cold bottle of water and a goody bag.

When I first finished the race, I was adamant I wouldn't do another one, but after having some time to reflect, I'm now toying with the idea again ! Am I crazy??

As much as I'm aching now, I did enjoy the day and I'm proud that I managed to run the whole thing and not stop once. I'll soon be posting my half marathon tips from training to what to eat the night before, so look out for that!!
